Welcome to Angelic Complementary Therapies January 2023 Newsletter
I do hope you are well after enjoying the festive season. Unfortunately, it’s all a bit of a blur for me as I caught the nasty virus which is going around. I had family to stay over the Christmas period, and naturally I entertained them, made sure they had plenty of food and drink, but come 7pm, I was in bed. I’m still not right as I’ve not had sufficient time to rest, but I’m definitely getting better.
I’m normally the optimistic person, finding the positive wherever possible, but right now I’m digging deep. 2022 was very trying for me – mum’s passing, dad’s ongoing illness, Derrick’s loss and ill health, my own health to name but a few, and I know 2023 has more in store for me. However, I will become stronger and accept this huge step I have to take, but there are times it’s hard. We’ve been watching “The World’s Strongest Man”. At this rate, I think I may partake next year (although, I’m not physically that strong unless my son starts training me). I miss mum daily, but not seeing her or having a conversation with her on my birthday/Christmas was very hard. On New Year’s Eve, my late mum’s partner (Derrick) was admitted to hospital, again. At least now, I hope, he’ll get the care he needs and deserves.
Typically, it’s the time of year we make New Year resolutions. It’s not something I live by. I believe we know in our heart, when we need to make a change and it’s not until we see and accept this then no number of New Year’s or a new week will make an impact – I’ve yet to meet a person that made a New Years’ resolution and it still be active come February. This can lead to self-failure, lack of self-worth, stress levels – which impact the body… Maybe consider making a goal and taking steps to achieve that goal. I also try to live life every day to my best and act with kindness.
On 25th December 2022 I celebrated my 50th birthday. Thankfully, I had celebrated with my family earlier in the month in Dorset, which was lovely, especially as I felt so poorly on Christmas Day. As I am in my 50th year, I’ve begun making a list 50 things I intend to achieve this year and some are already planned. I cannot wait to see my favourite band in May – Duran Duran (picture below, been a dedicated fan since I was 9 years old). I’m also going to see Phantom with my boys, I also have things planned with girlfriends as well as lots and lots of smaller things - things I’ve always wanted to do but never set a date to do it. 2023 will be the year I publish book three of The Feather Necklace series. I am really enjoying editing this book as one of the characters reminds me a little of my mum. These are goals, do you have any?
Quote for the moment
“No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path.”
Buddha
Mindfulness
A 5-10 minute exercise. All you need is a little privacy and a comfortable place to sit.
1) Relax into your seat. Focus on your breathing, on the gentle rising and falling of your belly.
2) Let go of all concerns and sense of duty. Leave the working day behind you. Just get more and more comfortable and focus on how that feels.
3) Imagine yourself melting into everything around you. With practice you might begin to feel at one with your surroundings.
Gratitude
If the only prayer you ever say in your whole life is, “Thank you” that would suffice.
Crystal/Stone of the month – Amazonite This month I have chosen Amazonite as it is known as the stone of Hope, good luck and fortune. The stone offers variations of blue-green and can resemble the sky and heavens – a beacon of good hope, faith and fortune.
Amazonite is said to have a soothing effect on the nervous system.
I wonder what January, and furthermore, what 2023 has in store for each of us?
I genuinely hope for everyone’s nearest and dearest to be healthy, happy and content -and lots of smiles too. Be kind to all, but mostly yourself, and I look forward to seeing you soon, with Love and Light.
