Welcome to Angelic Complementary Therapies December 2024 Newsletter
December – here we are.
Last month, you may have read/heard that, very sadly, we had that terrible decision any pet owner never wants to make – which was to put our beautiful Jefferson to sleep. It’s been four weeks now, and he is still missed terribly. Like any first Christmas without a loved one, this will be tough for us. Overall, I feel incredibly blessed to have had Jeffie in our lives for nine years and wouldn’t change a thing – and that’s what’s important at the end of the day.
How was your November? The country suffered terrible weather at times. I do hope nobody you love was affected by the storm.
A few days before Jeffie passed, I had the pleasure of feeding a tiger at Longleat Safari Park. What an incredible experience and how powerful, graceful and stunningly beautiful the tiger is. Not only did I feel privileged to be up close and personal with such a magnificent animal, but the tiger is also my power animal. I don't think I will ever forget looking into her eyes - such wise and soulful eyes.
Even though November was, personally, a hard month for me – with grieving the loss of Jeffie – I have still been busy with work, training and writing. This past month I have completed three reflexology further training courses – which I will be implementing into my treatments, as well as becoming a Usui Reiki Master/Teacher.
Usui Reiki
I have been an Usui Reiki Master Healer for nearly 10 years, but it has only been recently that I decided to train to become a teacher. I have had many people ask me if I teach, but in all honesty, I was happy to continue to give healing and allow others to teach. However, that has now changed, and 2025 will be the beginning of me starting a new pathway along my spiritual journey - including teaching and holding workshops. I’m super excited for where this will lead.
So, what is Usui Reiki, and why am I personally so passionate about this healing modality? I liken Usui Reiki to the original Reiki. There are many, many new forms of healing now available, and many new Reiki’s – but Usui Reiki is the one and only original and I feel honoured to give and now teach it. Usui Reiki is one of the only healing therapies where you can actually trace your own lineage (a bit like a family tree) back to the founder – Mikao Usui (if your practitioner is unable to show you their lineage, they are not trained in Usui Reiki).
Usui Reiki is a form of energy healing that originated in Japan in the early 20th century, founded by Mikao Usui. It is based on the belief that there is a universal life force energy (known as "ki" in Japanese, "chi" in Chinese, or "prana" in Indian traditions) that flows through all living things. When this energy is flowing freely and is balanced, we experience good physical, mental, and emotional health. Conversely, when the energy is blocked or out of balance, it can lead to illness or dis-ease.
Key Elements of Usui Reiki:
The Five Reiki Principles: guiding ethical principles to live by in order to maintain a peaceful, balanced life:
Just for today, do not anger.
Just for today, do not worry.
Just for today, I will live my life with gratitude.
Just for today, I will earn my living, honestly.
Just for today, I will be kind to every living being.
Attunements: Reiki practitioners receive attunements from a Reiki Master/Teacher to activate their ability to channel healing energy. These attunements are performed in stages, which correspond to different levels or "degrees" of Reiki.
Healing Touch: During a Reiki session, the practitioner channels energy into the client’s body, either through light touch or by hovering their hands over the body, with the intention to clear blockages, balance energy, and promote healing.
The Benefits of Usui Reiki
Usui Reiki is believed to have a variety of benefits, both physical and emotional, including:
Physical Healing:
Helps reduce pain and inflammation.
Boosts the immune system.
Promotes relaxation and stress relief.
Aids in detoxification by supporting the body’s natural healing processes.
Assists with conditions like headaches, digestive issues, insomnia, and chronic fatigue.
Emotional Healing:
Promotes emotional balance and stability.
Reduces anxiety, stress, and depression.
Helps to clear emotional blockages and release suppressed emotions.
Improves overall mood and fosters feelings of peace and contentment.
Mental Clarity and Focus:
Enhances mental clarity and concentration.
Improves decision-making and the ability to think clearly.
Helps calm overactive minds and promotes a state of mental peace.
Spiritual Growth and Awareness:
Encourages mindfulness and a deeper connection to one's higher self.
Fosters personal growth, healing, and self-awareness.
Promotes inner peace and a sense of purpose.
Stress Reduction:
One of the most immediate effects of Reiki is a deep sense of relaxation and stress reduction. It helps people feel calm and balanced, even in challenging situations.
Healing Chronic Conditions: While Reiki is not a substitute for medical treatment, it is often used as a complementary therapy. Many people report improvement in chronic conditions like arthritis, fibromyalgia, and back pain after receiving Reiki.
Improved Sleep: Reiki can help promote deeper, more restful sleep by calming the nervous system and releasing stress and tension.
Balanced Energy Flow: Reiki is believed to harmonise the energy in the body, ensuring that the flow of life force is smooth and balanced, leading to overall well-being.
Usui Reiki is a versatile healing practice that aims to address both the body and mind. It is non-invasive and can complement other treatments, promoting holistic wellness. Whether someone is seeking relief from physical pain, emotional trauma, or simply a deeper sense of peace, Usui Reiki offers a gentle, natural approach to healing and personal growth.
In 2025, I will offer the opportunity to learn Usui Reiki with myself.

Angels on my Christmas tree
As I write this newsletter (by the light of my Christmas tree) I’m aware of the many angels I have adorning my tree! Many of these are pretty old now, some made by Theo and Ozzie and some bring back wonderful memories. I love our tree with the mix of decorations that decorate it. I thought I’d share some with you.

Quote for the moment
Don’t let the past steal the present. This is the message of Christmas: we are never alone.

Christmas Mindfulness
All you need to do is select your favourite Christmas song – whether that is a carol, a pop song or a hymn – find a quiet five minutes in which to listen to it, and follow these three steps:
1. Sit comfortably, away from any distractions. Put on your headphones and close your eyes.
2. Before pressing play, let go of all preconceptions you have about the song. Prepare to listen to it as if it’s the first time you are hearing it.
3. Listen intently to the song. Explore the sounds. Try to separate each instrument or voice. Appreciate the sound of each individual element and how it interacts with the overall piece. Is there anything about the song you have never noticed before.
4. Pay attention to the thoughts and the emotions the song evokes. How does it make you feel? Does it conjure up any memories? What is it about the song you like? Which elements are effective in kindling the Christmas spirit?
Don’t worry if your mind wanders; you can always listen to the song a second time. Just relax and try to put your whole being into experiencing the sounds, melodies and messages of the song.
Crystal of the month - Moonstone
Moonstone is one of those magical, pearlescent stones. It is known as a stone for new beginnings, inner strength and growth. It’s also very calming and helps with emotional instability and stress providing calmness. It may be a good stone to have about you during the festive season which can prove stressful to many.
Angel Card
Vulnerability and Freedom
The Angel Guide Oracle Deck, Kyle Gray
Angels are with you now to boost your confidence because they can see how harsh some of the experiences you have endured have been. They want you to know that vulnerability allows you to find strength that will bring your freedom. To move into that freedom, your angel guide is encouraging you to take some time today to connect with parts of yourself that you love and admire. Know that your sensitivity is not a curse, but a gift. You are an emotionally connected soul, and although waves of emotion may have overwhelmed you, those emotions are great reminders of how much you care about living truthfully in a positive way. So take some time now to value the traits and quirks that make you the unique person you are. That will allow the world to value them too.
I wonder what this festive month of December has in store for each of us. Whatever it brings, may it be fun, peaceful and some time spent with those you love. Maybe think of ways you can have quality time with the people in your life or quality time with yourself. Be present and, as I always say, be kind to all, but mostly yourself. I look forward to seeing you soon, with love and light.
