National "I love my feet day"
17th August was the national “I love my feet” day.
Many of us take our feet for granted and only think of them when they hurt or we need to get them “out for the summer.” In my work I’m constantly surprised by how many people don’t love their feet! Feet are great and possibly need more attention than we give them. The fact still remains; for many of us, they are the foundation for our day-to-day physical mobility. Treat your feet to one or some of the following and I promise you will feel the benefits…
Reflexology
By stimulating the reflexes on the soles and tops of the feet (over 7,000 nerves), reflexology helps the body to release energy blockages and find its natural equilibrium. Each reflex represents a corresponding area of the body; therefore by stimulating the reflex it is possible to stimulate the corresponding organ or body area. Since reflexology treats the whole person, not the symptoms of disease, most people benefit from treatment. Reflexology can help you to maintain the homeostasis (the natural balance) of mind, body and spirit.
Not only is reflexology a deeply relaxing treatment it also balances energy to return the body to a state of equilibrium on a mental and emotional level as well as physical.
Pamper your feet with an energy cleansing footbath
Ever wondered why the bath water can feel perfect when we test the water with our hand but then go to step in and discover the water feels too hot? This is because feet are much more sensitive than our hands.
If you’re feeling low and unmotivated it may be that you need to release unwanted negative energy. Give yourself a relaxing and cleansing salt-water footbath to remove any negative energy. Salt is renowned for its cleansing and purifying abilities. Fill a bowl with warm water and add two tablespoons of rock salt and soak your feet for 15 minutes. Once finished, throw the water down the drain and rinse your feet with clean water. Slather them in a rich foot cream and relax.
Alternate your footwear
It’s often too easy to wear the same footwear day after day, however, it is recommended not wear the same pair two days in a row. This allows time for bacteria to dry and not to build up which will decrease the chance for nail infection and odour.
Balance yourself with earthing
Every part of our bodies is controlled by electrical impulses and scientists believe direct contact with the earth – earthing – charges our bodies with natural, health giving electrical energy. This will help reduce stress and improve your sleep pattern and immune system. Earthing is easy – walk barefoot outside (grass, soil, sand) and walk mindfully only thinking only of the sensations you feel under your feet and toes.
